Differential Media:
Glucose Fermentation Broth and O/F Medium – Page 2

The following examples show the behavior of four organisms in both Glucose Fermentation Broth and Glucose O/F Medium. The organisms are gram-negative except Staphylococcus epidermidis which grows weakly in Glucose O/F Medium.

"EC" = Escherichia coli "PF" = Pseudomonas fluorescens "AF" = Alcaligenes faecalis "SE" = Staphylococcus epidermidis	"1" = Glucose O/F Medium "2" = same with mineral oil overlay "3" = Glucose Fermentation Broth

Organism ferments glucose (and can grow anaerobically as a result)	+ (Also produces H2 and CO2)	–	–	+
